VCF’s active ingredient, Nonoxynol-9 has been the subject of numerous clinical studies and is recognized as a safe and effective barrier spermicide, with a rate of effectiveness as high as 94%. To ensure a contraceptive reaches its highest effective potential, it must be used exactly as directed — that is properly and consistently. VCF lasts up to 3 hours. VCF must be inserted not less than 15 minutes and not more than three hours prior to intercourse. Allow VCF to dissolve for 15 minutes before intercourse to be sure the film has dissolved completely. Dissolution may be less depending upon the individual. If more than three hours have elapsed since VCF was last inserted, insert another Film. Use one Film for every act of intercourse. Several VCF’s may be used in one day.
